Particleboards from Recycled Thermally Modified Wood

چکیده

In recent years, the production and consumption of thermally modified wood (TMW) has been increasing. Offcuts other waste generated during TMWs processing into products, as well already disposed products based on can be an input recycled raw material for particleboards (PBs). a laboratory, 16 mm thick 3-layer PBs bonded with urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin were produced at 5.8 MPa, 240 °C 8 s pressing factor. PBs, particles from fresh spruce mixed offcuts pine, beech, ash combined in weight ratios 100:0, 80:20, 50:50 0:100. Thickness swelling (TS) water absorption (WA) decreased increased portion TMW particles, i.e., TS after 24 h maximally about 72.3% WA 64%. However, mechanical properties worsened proportionally higher content TMW—apparently, modulus rupture (MOR) up to 55.5% internal bond (IB) 46.2%, while negative effect elasticity (MOE) was milder. Colour Stability of Thermally Modified Wood during Short-Term Photodegradation

Dry thermal treatments of wood samples were carried out at 160 and 200 °C. After each treatment, the samples were irradiated using a strong UV emitter mercury lamp, and the colour change was then evaluated. For control, untreated samples were also irradiated using the same mercury lamp. Results showed that the extractive content of the wood played an important role in the colour change not only...

Characterization of Emissions from Thermally Modified Wood and Their Reduction by Chemical Treatment

Thermal treatment is a suitable method for improving the quality of wood types like spruce, beech, or poplar, and thus to open up new fields of application that used to be limited to tropical woods or woods treated with timber preservatives. These thermally treated woods are characterized by a typical odor caused by degradation products of miscellaneous wood components. The characterization and...

Durability of wood plastic composites manufactured from recycled plastic

The influence of accelerated weathering, xenon-arc light and freeze-thaw cycling on wood plastic composites extruded from a recycled plastic was studied. The results showed that, in general, weathering had a stronger impact on samples made from plastic waste compared to a sample made from virgin material. After weathering, the mechanical properties, tensile and flexural, were reduced by 2-30%, ...

Properties of particleboard made from recycled CCA-treated wood

Recovery of chromated copper arsenate (CCA)-treated wood for reuse has been the focus of several international research groups due to the imminent disposal problem created when large quantities of CCA-treated wood ultimately come out of service. Bioleaching with Bacillus licheniformis CC01 and oxalic acid extraction are two methods known to remove significant quantities of metals from CCA-treat...

Bitumens Modified with Recycled Polymers

Increasing traffic loading and volumes on roads has led to the use of polymer modified binders to improve the performance of bitumen in terms of additional strength, durability and increased resistance to rutting and fatigue cracking. Generally those modifiers currently in use are virgin polymers but the research investigate the possibility of using waste polymers instead. The aim was to find a...
